Minister Javed Ahmed Rana Advocates for Tribal Heritage Preservation

Minister for Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, emphasized the urgent need to preserve the cultural identity of communities in the Pir Panjal region during his address at the Tribal Mela on Wednesday, held at Sagra, Mendhar (Poonch). He highlighted the importance of balanced progress that respects tribal values and traditions.

Speaking at this vibrant Tribal Mela organized by the Tribal Affairs Department in collaboration with the District Administration, Rana stated that development must not come at the cost of cultural erosion. He called for an integrative approach that recognizes modern advancements while safeguarding the essence of tribal customs.

Rana reiterated the Omar Abdullah Government’s commitment towards fostering inclusive development aimed at building a resilient, self-reliant tribal society. He commended the Tribal Affairs Department along with local administrative efforts in organizing this event, which he described as a meaningful step towards development with dignity.

During the mela, the event saw enthusiastic participation from locals, effectively showcasing tribal heritage, food, and traditional knowledge. Stalls featured a variety of indigenous cuisines, medicinal plants, and healthcare practices. Furthermore, a free medical camp provided valuable consultations and health services to the public.

The event strongly reflected the government’s commitment to ensure that development policies remain rooted in lived tribal realities. It aimed to celebrate and uphold the rich culture and heritage of the tribal communities.

Prominent figures such as Chairperson DDCPoonch Tazeem Akhtar and Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma attended the occasion.
