Devyani Rana of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won the Nagrota Assembly seat with a commanding lead, according to the official results released by the Election Commission of India on October 30, 2023. The victory positions Rana as a key player in the BJP’s expanding influence in Jammu and Kashmir.
Rana secured 42,183 votes, defeating her nearest rival, Harsh Dev Singh of the Jammu & Kashmir National Panthers Party, who received 17,661 votes. Shamim Begum of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference followed with 10,834 votes, while independent candidate Anil Sharma managed to garner only 837 votes.
With a significant victory margin of 24,522 votes, Rana’s triumph marks a major milestone for the BJP in the Nagrota constituency. The Election Commission confirmed the result following the completion of all 11 rounds of counting. This victory showcases the electorate’s trust in the BJP’s governance and policies.
