CBK Conducts House Searches in Srinagar & Budgam Over Cheating Case

The Special Crime Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) launched extensive house searches across five locations in central Kashmir’s Srinagar and Budgam districts on Saturday. These searches are part of an ongoing investigation into a substantial cheating case.

According to an official spokesperson from the Crime Branch Kashmir, the operation forms part of the inquiry into a case registered at the Police Station Special Crime Wing in Srinagar. The cheating allegations involve an individual allegedly deceived under the guise of selling land.

The investigation began following a complaint from a local resident, who reported being misled into believing they were purchasing a legitimate parcel of land. The complainant had received what they thought were authentic land documents and consequently paid lakhs of rupees.

However, subsequent investigations revealed that the land was never actually owned by the sellers, a fact that officials corroborated during the inquiry. Such fraudulent transactions not only undermine personal confidence but also disrupt community trust.

The Crime Branch’s probe into the case underscores their commitment to tackling fraud and protecting the interests of consumers in the region. Cheating in property deals remains a significant concern moving forward.

Currently, the house searches continue as investigators work diligently to gather more evidence and information related to the case. Further inquiries are expected to unearth additional details regarding the alleged fraud and identify other potential victims.

As the investigation progresses, local residents are encouraged to maintain vigilance and report any suspicious land transactions to the authorities.
